Mr. Liddallasked the President of the Board of Trade whether, pending legislation, he has taken steps to protect the public by requiring that those responsible for unit trusts shall provide that the method of computation and the accuracy of advertised yields on the trust units shall be certified by an independent accountant?
§ Mr. StanleyThe Board of Trade have no power to impose the requirements suggested by my hon. Friend, but I understand that the matters to which he refers are being considered by the council of the Unit Trusts Association in consultation with the accountants.
