HC Deb 21 November 1938 vol 341 c1334
43. Sir H. Morris-Jones

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether the Government have arrived at any decision on the question of improved credit facilities for farmers?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

I have nothing to add to the reply given on 1st November to a similar question by my hon. Friend the Member for Evesham (Mr. De la Bère).

Mr. De la Bère

Is my right hon. Friend aware that for three years I have been endeavouring to get something done in this direction?

Mr. Morrison

The problem is a difficult one, as I have previously told the House, and it has been under consideration, but recent events have made the matter one to be dealt with more quickly.

Mr. T. Williams

Has the right hon. Gentleman any knowledge of the real indebtedness of the farmers of this country or the desire on the part of farmers to take large credits?

Mr. Morrison

Yes, I have a certain amount of information on both heads.
