HC Deb 17 November 1938 vol 341 cc1025-6
11. Mr. Day

asked the Minister of Labour particulars of the steps he is still taking to promote industrial transference; and how many workers have been transferred during the previous three months?

Mr. E. Brown

All the facilities of the Industrial Transference Scheme continue to be available; and to be brought to the notice of those likely to be interested, in the course of the day-to-day work of the Employment Exchange Service. The number of workers transferred and placed in employment by the Department during the three months ended 30th September, 1938, was 6,940.

Mr. Day

Can the right hon. Gentleman say how many of the 6,900 are at present in the London area?

Mr. Brown

Not without notice. Perhaps the hon. Member will put the question down.
