HC Deb 17 November 1938 vol 341 c1054
64. Mr. Ede

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether the Board propose to issue a circular setting out their intentions with regard to the appropriate extension of technical education?

Mr. Lindsay

The Board have already, in Circular 1444, impressed on local education authorities the need for the development and expansion of technical education. My Noble Friend is considering whether any further pressure in this direction is necessary.

Mr. Ede

Will the hon. Member bear in mind, and draw his Noble Friend's attention to the fact that a good many authorities thought that Circular 1464 had superseded the one he has quoted, and as this is silent about technical education, they think that the Government have lost interest?

Mr. Lindsay

That will be made very clear.
