HC Deb 16 November 1938 vol 341 cc880-1
86. Mr. Anstruther-Gray

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that re-exports of imported merchandise from Britain to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics are carried to the extent of 55.7 per cent. in Soviet vessels and only 2.2 per cent. in British vessels; and whether it is proposed to take any steps to ensure a larger proportion being carried in British bottoms?

Mr. Stanley

Yes, Sir. As regards the second part of the question, I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply which I gave yesterday to my hon. and gallant Friend, the Member for Wycombe (Sir A. Knox).
