asked the Secretary for Mines the number of accidents, fatal and non-fatal, caused by shot-firing, for the period 1929 to 1937, inclusive?

During the nine-year period 1929 to 1937, 279 persons were killed and 1,907 injured by accidents due to the use of explosives or to explosions attributed to shot-firing. All such accidents causing any personal injury whatever are reportable, and the figures of injuries are given on that basis.
