HC Deb 15 November 1938 vol 341 c657
5. Sir William Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs whether he is aware that undesirable aliens are acquiring British citizenship by first becoming citizens of the Dominion of Eire, which does not insist on the safeguards relating to naturalisation required in Great Britain; and what action he proposes to take in the matter?

Mr. M. MacDonald

Persons naturalised in Eire under the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act, 1935, do not thereby become British subjects. The second part of the question does not, therefore, arise.
