HC Deb 14 November 1938 vol 341 c501
72. Mr. Logan

asked the Minister for the Co-ordination of Defence whether, in the event of hostilities, he can give an assurance that he has made adequate provisions for the defence of the Liverpool docks and people residing in Liverpool's congested areas?

The Minister for the Co-ordination of Defence (Sir Thomas Inskip)

Yes, Sir. The local anti-aircraft defences allotted to the Liverpool area take into account its special features. In addition, this area receives a considerable measure of protection from the general layout of the air defence system of Great Britain.

Mr. Logan

Without giving anything away regarding Liverpool which is regarded as secret, would it not be possible for the Minister to confer with the Members of Parliament for Liverpool in regard to the docks and various other places?

Sir T. Inskip

I shall be happy at all times to meet the Members of Parliament for Liverpool.

Mr. Logan

From the point of view of co-ordination, is it not time that a meeting of Members of Parliament for Liverpool was called? I do not know them.
