HoareParticulars of the approved grants made by the board out of the surplus in the totalisator fund arising from their operations during the 12 months ended 31st December, 1937, will be found in Part III of their Annual Report for that year, which was presented to Parliament and published by the Stationery Office in June, 1938. The amounts shown as "unallocated" in that Report have since been allocated with my approval. The grants given for purposes conducive to improvements of breeds of horses amounted to £8,485; those for purposes conducive to improvements in the sport of horse racing to £136,350; and those towards the advancement and encouragement of veterinary science and education to £5,165.
