§ Mr. AttleeCan the Prime Minister make a statement with respect to the business of the House?
§ The Prime MinisterThe general Debate on the Address will be finished to-day. In accordance with the statement which I made yesterday, we shall not resume the Debate on the Address to-morrow, but the House will adjourn after the presentation of Private Members' Bills.
Monday and Tuesday: Consideration of the Opposition Amendment to the Address.
Wednesday: Private Members' Motions will be considered.
306 Thursday: The Opposition Liberal Amendment will be taken, and the Debate on the Address brought to a conclusion.
Friday: Consideration of Private Members' Bills.
On any day, if time permits, progress will be made with other Business.
Mr. J. J. DavidsonIn view of the prospect of a very heavy Session, can the Prime Minister give any specific reason to the House why we are to finish so early to-morrow?
§ The Prime MinisterThat suggestion was made by the Leader of the Opposition, and I made inquiries through the usual channels whether it was the general desire. I believe the arrangement made is in accord with that general desire.
Mr. DavidsonI still hope that the Prime Minister will recognise that I have a right to object to this procedure.
§ Mr. Dingle FootCan the Prime Minister say when it is proposed to discuss the report of the Select Committee on the Official Secrets Acts, and when it is proposed to reconstitute that Committee to consider Part II of its Terms of Reference?
§ The Prime MinisterI cannot make a reply to that question to-day. It will not be this week, but I hope to make a statement later.
