15. Mr. V. Adamsasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has any statement to make regarding conditions in Palestine?
§ The Secretary of State for the Colonies (Mr. Malcolm MacDonald)I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply which I gave to a number of questions yesterday. The High Commissioner reported to me yesterday evening that a strike had been declared in the Arab quarters of all towns in protest against the traffic restrictions which came into force yesterday. In Haifa the port was working and the essential railway services were maintained. The railway workshops were closed. No disturbances had occurred.
Mr. AdamsAs an early decision on the political issue is vital, may we know the Government's mind at an early date on partition and such matters?
§ Mr. MacDonaldIf my hon. Friend will study the answer I gave yesterday, he will find the answer to the question there.
