74. Miss Wardasked the Secretary of State for War why the 1st Anti-Aircraft London Division is 4o per cent. short of searchlights; and when he proposes to remedy this shortage?
§ The Financial Secretary to the War Office (Sir Victor Warrender)My hon. Friend is mistaken. The full training quota of searchlights for this Division is available.
Miss WardIn view of the fact that my information emanated from what appeared to be a well-informed quarter, and of the anxiety that exists regarding this matter, while my hon. Friend see that the correct information is given to the general public?
§ Major DowerWhile admitting the enormous increase in the development of searchlights which has undoubtedly taken place recently, may I ask whether it would be possible for my hon. Friend to prevent the lending of a searchlight by one unit to another, which makes it very difficult for the units to function properly?
§ Sir V. WarrenderWith regard to the first supplementary question, obviously I cannot be responsible for the information 1209 that the hon. Lady gets. With regard to the second, I will certainly look into the matter.
