HC Deb 23 May 1938 vol 336 cc856-7
74. Mr. Viant

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is now in a position to make a statement on the recommendations arising from the conference convened by the Education Committee of the Middlesex County Council, on 13th April, 1938, as to road safety amongst school children, copies of which were forwarded to him by the secretary of the Middlesex Education Committee?

75. Mr. R. C. Morrison

asked the Home Secretary whether he has considered the copy sent to him of a resolution passed at a recent conference of children's safety committees, convened by the Education Committee, Middlesex County Council, urging the provision of adult patrols, working under the supervision of the police authorities, for the protection of school children at dangerous points on the highways; and whether this proposal is receiving consideration?

The Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department (Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd)

This resolution was brought to my right hon. Friend's notice in a letter dated firth May in which the Middlesex Education Committee asked that they might send a deputation to the Home Office to put forward their case in support of the proposal made in the resolution. My right hon. Friend is arranging for this deputation to be received, and he will consider the proposal in due course in the light of the representations made by the deputation.
