Sir Nicholas Grattan-Doyleasked the Prime Minister whether his attention has been called to the appeals being issued by Government Departments and local authorities for volunteers to assist in various forms of Defence; and whether, in view of the multiplicity of appeals to civilians for this purpose, he will set up a central authority to co-ordinate such appeals and allocate the responses in order of priority and suitability of those responding?
§ The Minister for the Co-ordination of Defence (Sir Thomas Inskip)There is already an Inter-Departmental Committee whose duties include the general co-ordination of Departmental activities of the sort referred to by my hon. Friend. I have arranged that attention should be given at once by the Committee to my hon. Friend's suggestion.
