§ Mr. ButlerThe guarantee contained in Article 18 of the Straits Convention signed at Lausanne on 24th July, 1923, automatically lapsed when that convention was replaced by the convention signed at Montreux on 20th July, 1936, which brought the demilitarisation of the Straits to an end.
