HC Deb 11 May 1938 vol 335 cc1579-80
48. Sir A. Knox

asked the Minister for the Co-ordination of Defence whether any arrangements are being made for the defence of railway bridges against attack from the air?

The Minister for the Co-ordination of Defence (Sir Thomas Inskip)

Arrangements for the defence of vulnerable points including railway bridges are included in the plans for air defence.

Sir A. Knox

What Department is entrusted with these plans? Is it the War Office or the Home Office, or it is the stationmaster in the station?

Sir T. Inskip

This is a matter for the War Office and Air Ministry in co-operation.

Mr. Macquisten

Why can the Government not take proper precautions with these things?
