HC Deb 11 May 1938 vol 335 c1580
52. Mr. Day

asked the Minister for the Co-ordination of Defence whether the subcommittee of the Committee of Imperial Defence who were appointed to examine the results of the experiments that have taken place in connection with the defence against aircraft and the vulnerability from the air of capital ships have completed their investigations; and what, if any, further action the Government propose taking?

Sir T. Inskip

The hon. Member will recollect that the report of the sub-committee of the Committee of Imperial Defence on the Vulnerability of Capital Ships to Air Attack was presented to Parliament in November, 1936, as Command Paper No. 5301. As recommended in paragraph 47 of the report, experiments have continued to be made, and there is the fullest collaboration between the Admiralty and Air Ministry.

Mr. Day

Has any consideration been given to the general question of vulnerability?

Sir T. Inskip

Yes, Sir.
