§ 45. Mr. Gallacherasked the Prime Minister the names of the present trustees of the Imperial Relations Trust set up to administer the sum of £250,000 placed anonymously at the disposal of the then Prime Minister for the purpose of endowing any object best calculated to strengthen the ties between the Dominions and the United Kingdom on the understanding that India should be included; how often the trustees meet; and whether it is intended to publish any report on the work of this trust?
§ The Prime Minister (Mr. Chamberlain)This question has, I think, been put down under a misapprehension. The Government are in no way concerned with the appointment of the trustees of this trust or with the frequency of their meetings or their intentions as to publication of reports. These are entirely matters for the trustees, and I cannot undertake to answer questions on these matters.
§ Mr. GallacherWas this granted on the understanding that the Government would have some control over the disbursement of the funds of the trustees, and are not the funds being allowed to slip out of the control of the Government?
§ The Prime MinisterNo, Sir; the hon. Member is mistaken.
