§ 24. Mr. Dayasked the Home Secretary whether he proposes to make any further modification in the present law in respect of the trial on a capital charge of a woman who is about to become a mother?
§ Sir S. HoareThis whole matter was reviewed by Parliament in 1931 when the Sentence of Death (Expectant Mothers) Act was passed. I am not aware that this Act requires any modification.
§ Mr. DayCan the right hon. Gentleman say whether this special point has been considered, seeing that his predecessor said that he would give special consideration to it?
§ Sir S. HoareThe special point was considered. An Act of Parliament was 1013 passed by agreement by the whole House in 1931, and I have received no criticism of the operation of the Act.
