§ Mr. Lennox-BoydI have made inquiries and find that negotiations have been proceeding between the company in question and the local King's Roll Committee, but that the company has not as yet satisfied the committee that it is eligible for enrolment. My hon. Friend will appreciate that the placing of Government contracts with a particular company is a matter for the contracting Department concerned.
§ Sir J. MellorWill my hon. Friend consult with his colleagues with a view that in the absence of special circumstances, further contracts shall not be placed with this company unless and until it has enrolled?
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydThis matter is receiving very earnest consideration, and I am sure it is the general view of the House that, as far as possible, it is desirable that Government contracts should be given to firms so enrolled.
