HC Deb 05 May 1938 vol 335 c1017
40. Mr. Parker

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education who was the vendor and what was the previous rateable value of the three acres of land recently acquired in Hornchurch by the Essex Education Committee at a price of £3,800?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education (Mr. Kenneth Lindsay)

The vendors were W. and H.M. Estates, Limited, of Watford, Herts. The Board have been informed by the local education authority that the previous gross rateable value of the three acres was £135, the net annual rental £128 5s. and the agricultural rateable value £32. These values, however, relate to the three acres not as a separate plot, but as part of a larger plot of about 177 acres.
