HC Deb 04 May 1938 vol 335 cc855-6
19. Sir Percy Harris

asked the Prime Minister whether his attention has been called to the report of the American Consul-General in Vienna to the State Department in Washington that on 50 occasions he had protested to the authorities in Vienna against the ill-treatment of American-born Jews or Jews possessing American citizenship, and that two British subjects had also been subjected to similar treatment; and whether the British Government are making similar representations on behalf of their nationals?

Mr. Butler

I have no official knowledge of the report to which the hon. Baronet refers. His Majesty's Government have taken action in all cases in which they considered it practicable to do so.
