HC Deb 03 May 1938 vol 335 c673
3. Mr. Gallacher

asked the President of the Board of Trade what was the value of Japanese imports into Great Britain during the period January to March, inclusive, in 1937 and 1938?

Captain Wallace

During the three months ended March, 1938, the total declared value of merchandise imported into the United Kingdom and consigned from Japan (including Formosa) amounted to £2,632,000. The corresponding figure for the three months ended March, 1937, was £2,630,000.

Mr. Gallacher

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that most of these goods are actually dumped goods?

Captain Wallace

Perhaps, if the hon. Member wishes for any further information, he will put down another question.

Vice-Admiral Taylor

Will my right hon. and gallant Friend take note of the support that he is receiving from the party opposite?
