HC Deb 03 May 1938 vol 335 c689
27. Mr. Hollins

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is now in a position to take any action with regard to the position arising from the umpire's decisions upon holiday pay and their effect on claims for unemployment benefit?

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

As my right hon. Friend informed the hon. Member on 18th November last, it was not possible to take any action in regard to this matter before the receipt of the report of the Committee on Holidays with Pay. This report has now been received and my right hon. Friend has asked the Unemployment Insurance Statutory Committee to consider the question whether any change should be made in the Unemployment Insurance Acts in relation to holidays and other periods of suspension from work and to advise upon the subject. I understand that the Committee will be glad to hear from persons or organisations interested before 31st May.
