HC Deb 02 May 1938 vol 335 cc506-7
46. Mr. David Adams

asked the Attorney-General whether he is aware that the shortage of magistrates in the Consett, County Durham, area is causing great inconvenience to many citizens; and whether he will take the necessary steps to end promptly this disability?

The Attorney-General (Sir Donald Somervell)

My Noble Friend the Lord Chancellor is not aware of any serious shortage of magistrates in this area, but he has recently received certain recommendations for the appointment of additional Justices in the County of Durham, and he will give careful consideration to the requirements of this particular area.
