HC Deb 02 May 1938 vol 335 c502
28. Sir J. Wardlaw-Milne

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether, with the object of securing an increase in the homegrown supply of non-malting barley, it is the intention of the Government to take any action to ensure a higher return to farmers by guaranteeing a minimum price?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

The existing subsidy payable under Part II of the Agriculture Act, 1937, already virtually provides a general guaranteed minimum price for that portion of the home-grown feeding-barley crop which is estimated, on an average, to be sold off the farm. No further action for guaranteeing a minimum price is in contemplation.
