HC Deb 02 May 1938 vol 335 c511
62. Miss Rathbone

asked the Home Secretary how many Austrian refugees have been admitted to this country since the occupation of Austria by German forces; and to how many admission has been refused?

Mr. Lloyd

I would refer the hon. Member to the replies given on 28th March and 26th April to questions put by my hon. Friends the Members for Abingdon (Sir R. Glyn) and South-West St. Pancras (Sir G. Mitcheson). Since 21st March 12 holders of Austrian passports have been refused leave to land. In only two of these cases have claims to be a refugee been made.
