asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has considered the proposal to amalgamate certain departments in Northern and Southern Rhodesia and Nyasaland; and whether he intends to take action along those lines?

As the hon. Member is aware, a Royal Commission has been appointed to consider whether any, and if so what, form of closer co-operation or association between Southern Rhodesia, Northern Rhodesia and Nyasaland is desirable and feasible. I cannot anticipate the findings of the Royal Commission.
