HC Deb 24 March 1938 vol 333 cc1371-2
58. Miss Ward

asked the Minister of Health what use he intends to make of the results of the satisfactory experiment carried out in giving additional nutritive foodstuffs to expectant and nursing mothsrs in the special areas?

Sir K. Wood

The progress of this scheme is being followed with the closest attention by the Medical Research Council and myself, but, as I have previously stated, it must at present be regarded as in the experimental stage, and I am not in a position to make any general statement upon the results obtained.

Miss Ward

May I ask when the right hon. Gentleman considers that the experimental stage will come to an end?

Viscountess Astor

Will the right hon. Gentleman ask expectant mothers what they think about it, and then he need not bother about having any experimental stage?

Miss Ward

May I have an answer?

Sir K. Wood

I will take very carefully into account what both hon. Ladies have said.
