HC Deb 24 March 1938 vol 333 c1378
75. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Postmaster-General whether he proposes to introduce legislation to safeguard the position of the British Broadcasting Corporation and their rights against cinemas displaying large-screen television?

The Postmaster-General (Major Tryon)

The position remains as indicated in my reply to a similar question by my hon. Friend on 22nd December last. I have still no reason to suppose that legislation is likely to be required in this connection.

Mr. De la Bère

Is the Posmaster-General aware that any attempt to introduce legislation of this nature would be resisted by every right-minded person throughout the country? What did the B.B.C. do last Sunday? The meanest agitation on record.
