HC Deb 23 March 1938 vol 333 c1193
40. Mr. Robert Gibson (for Mr. David Adams)

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has a further statement to make as to the situation in Palestine?

Captain Dugdale (Lord of the Treasury)

I have been asked to reply. There has been no major encounter with armed bands since the operations near Safad on the 10th and 11th March, when several bands were dispersed with severe casualties. In the week ending 21st March, the following further incidents occurred: one murder, five cases of wounding, 14 robberies, 14 cases of sniping and seven cases of sabotage, the latter including the derailing of a goods train. Seven more Arabs have been tried by military courts; of these two were sentenced to death, two were acquitted, two bound over and one sentenced to six months' imprisonment.
