HC Deb 23 March 1938 vol 333 c1191
35. Sir Nicholas Grattan-Doyle

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is yet in a position to give the name of the fourth member of the Palestine Partition Commission?

The Secretary of State for the Colonies (Mr. Ormsby-Gore)

No, Sir; but I hope to be able to make an announcement very shortly.

39. Mr. Mander

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the technical Commission shortly proceeding to Palestine have been informed that their task is urgent and should be carried out with all convenient despatch?

Mr. Ormsby-Gore

I am sure that the members of the Commission fully appreciate the position, and the importance of carrying out their inquiries as rapidly as possible.

Mr. Mander

Has not this matter become much more important since the appointment of the Commission, in view of recent events in Austria and other parts of Europe; and will not the Commission's attention be called to the Government's great anxiety to have a report as soon as possible?
