HC Deb 21 March 1938 vol 333 cc830-1
32. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether the Government will now consider preparing schemes for providing long-term credits for farmers and others connected with the agricultural industry at a rate of 2½ or 3½ per cent. in place of the long-term credits which are now available at 5 per cent.?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

I have nothing to add to the reply given to my hon. Friend on 8th July last.

Mr. De la Bère

Is it not a fact that other industries can borrow money at much more favourable rates than can agriculture?

Mr. Morrison

If my hon. Friend will look at the answer to which I referred he will see the explanation.

Major Sir George Davies

Are not the long-term credits in the Vale of Evesham the best in the world?
