HC Deb 14 March 1938 vol 333 cc11-2
17. Mr. Day

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department the amount of the last contribution made by the Government towards the funds of the Travel Association of Great Britain and Ireland for the purpose of carrying out a national publicity campaign all over the world in order to increase the number of visitors to this country?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade (Captain Euan Wallace)

I have been asked to reply. The grant-in-aid for the purpose of assisting the Travel and Industrial Development Association of Great Britain and Ireland in its normal work, which includes publicity overseas to attract visitors to this country, was £5,000 in the current financial year.

Mr. Day

In the interests of health will this grant be increased?

Captain Wallace

That raises another question.
