HC Deb 02 March 1938 vol 332 c1080
6. Mr. Day

asked the Prime Minister particulars of the number of British subjects who have been repatriated to Great Britain or Northern Ireland from the United States of America during the previous three years; and how many of them had previously become destitute?

Mr. Butler

I regret that the particulars desired by the hon. Member are not readily available. British subjects are only repatriated at the cost of public funds if they are destitute.

Mr. Day

Has the hon. Gentleman received reports of British subjects having received worse treatment than the subjects of some of the other nations?

Mr. Butler

No, Sir, I have not received any such report.
