81. Mr. de Rothschild

asked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs whether he is now in a position to state the names of the Commission to visit Northern and Southern Rhodesia to advise on their constitutions?

The King has approved the appointment of the following as members of the Royal Commission which is to consider the question of closer co-operation or association between Southern Rhodesia, Northern Rhodesia and Nyasaland, and of which, as announced on 16th February, Lord Bledisloe will be Chairman:

  • The hon. Member for Weston-super-Mare (Mr. Orr-Ewing),
  • The hon. Member for East Rhondda (Mr. Mainwaring),
  • The hon. and learned Member for the University of Wales (Mr. Ernest Evans),
  • Mr. P. Ashley Cooper, and
  • Mr. T. Fitzgerald, C.M.G., O.B.E.
The Secretary to the Commission will be Mr. G. F. Seel of the Colonial Office.
