HC Deb 28 June 1938 vol 337 cc1715-6
67. Mr. Davidson

asked the Secretary of State for War when the anti-aircraft units now established in Scotland will have their full complement of 3.7 mobile and 4.5 fixed guns?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

What complement of available guns may be allotted to any particular unit depends upon the plan of defence.

Mr. Davidson

In view of the fact that the Scottish local authorities are interested in the question of defence, surely the Minister's general staff have sufficient technical knowledge to be able to assure the people of Scotland when these units, now established, will be equipped properly for defence purposes?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

Surely the hon. Member realises that no country in the world would publish the kind of information for which he has asked.

Mr. Thurtle

Can the right hon. Gentleman give us an assurance that these anti-aircraft units in Scotland will not be given priority over anti-aircraft units in London?

Mr. Davidson

In view of the thoroughly unsatisfactory answer I beg to give notice that I shall raise the question on the Adjournment.
