42. Captain P. MacDonald

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he is now in a position to make any statement with regard to the programme of experimental Transatlantic flights which it is proposed to carry out during the present summer.

The Under-Secretary of State for Air (Captain Harold Balfour)

As I informed my hon. Friend the Member for Stour-bridge (Mr. Morgan) on 1st June, it is hoped to carry out experimental Transatlantic flights with the Mayo composite aircraft, with flying boats and with land-planes during the course of the year. The programme is under active consideration with Imperial Airways.
