Mr. StanleyThe Report of the Departmental Committee on Compulsory Insurance has been under consideration by the Departments concerned with a view to legislation being prepared on the basis of their recommendations. I am not, however, at present in a position to make any further statement on the subject.
§ Mr. MorrisonDoes the right hon. Gentleman realise that it is almost a year since this report was published, and eight months since one of his colleagues informed me that the report was under consideration? Is there to be any time limit to this consideration?
Mr. StanleyThis matter concerns the business of the House, and I think hon. Members will agree that the House has not been neglectful of its business in the interval of eight months.
§ Mr. SmithWill the right hon. Gentleman consult the Home Secretary with a view to dealing with this matter?
Mr. StanleyIf the hon. Member is referring to the question of workmen's compensation, he will realise that it is not covered by the consideration of the Committee to which these questions refer.
