HC Deb 16 June 1938 vol 337 cc397-8
48. Mr. Gallacher

asked the Prime Minister whether the Government will take steps to comply with the recommendation of the Coastal Preservation Committee that no part of the foreshore should be disposed of in future by the Commissioners of Crown Lands or the Duchies of Lancaster or Cornwall except by way of lease to a local authority or to some semipublic body such as the National Trust?

The Prime Minister

The recommendation of the Committee will be borne in mind by the Departments concerned. I understand that in the absence of special circumstances those Departments do not dispose of foreshore except by way of lease or sale to public or semi-public authorities.
