HC Deb 15 June 1938 vol 337 c198
13. Mr. George Hall

asked the Prime Minister whether His Majesty's Government has reached any agreement with the Government of the United States on the size of battleships and heavy guns; and, if so, whether any efforts have been made to secure Japan's agreement not to exceed these maximum figures?

The Prime Minister

The escalation discussions are still proceeding and I am at present not in a position to add anything to the reply which my hon. Friend gave to the Member for Ince (Mr. G. Macdonald) on 23rd May. The second part of the question does not therefore at present arise, although His Majesty's Government will naturally bear in mind that particular aspect of the question.
