HC Deb 14 June 1938 vol 337 c36
55. Mr. Vyvyan Adams

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the total amounts received by way of salary and fees by the Attorney-General and the Solicitor-General for England, respectively, to the end of the last financial year?

Captain Wallace

The total amounts for the 12 months ended 31st March last are £11,324 and £7,638 respectively.

Mr. Adams

Is it intended to perpetuate an anomaly whereby the chief Law Officer of the Crown receives more than twice as much as any Member of the Cabinet with the exception of the Prime Minister and the Lord Chancellor?
