HC Deb 01 June 1938 vol 336 cc2047-8
68. Mr. Hepworth

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether the maximum use is being made in all Air Ministry contracts of offers of sub-contracting?

The Secretary of State for Air (Sir Kingsley Wood)

A substantial amount of sub-contracting already exists but it is my intention to give full consideration to all possibilities of the further utilisation of such resources.

Mr. Louis Smith

Is the Minister aware that, in Sheffield, many of the smaller firms are anxious to tender for sub-contract work, in connection with the air service; and will he get in touch with the Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, who can place all the necessary information at his disposal?

Sir K. Wood

I shall be glad to receive any information that is sent to me.
