HC Deb 01 June 1938 vol 336 cc2049-50
77. Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Transport what steps are being taken to provide a first-class road from Falmouth to join the main high road to the west so that emergency food supplies, etc., could be landed at Falmouth and transferred to the centres of population in time of war?

Mr. Burgin

There are at present three Class A roads between Falmouth and the London-Penzance Trunk Road, namely, A. 394 to Penzance, A. 393 to Redruth and A. 39 via Truro.

Mr. L. Smith

Is the Minister aware that before Falmouth could be used for the purpose of landing food supplies additions would be required to the docks as well as equipment, cranes and so forth?
