HC Deb 01 June 1938 vol 336 cc2021-2
28. Mr. Day

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty particulars of the arrangements made for ships' companies to have a constant and regular change of films during the times warships are at sea, and whether the same are paid for by the ship's company?

Mr. Cooper

A scheme for supplying films to sea-going ships of the Fleet is now being prepared and will be put into operation in a few weeks' time when it is known how many ships are likely to join in the arrangements. The ships' companies will pay for the use of the films at a weekly rate of about 1½ a head, with higher rates for officers varied according to rank.

Mr. Day

When that scheme is being prepared, will the First Lord see that a certain proportion of British films is provided, the same as the quota films?

Mr. Cooper

That will be taken into consideration.

Mr. Pritt

Will these films include films showing the bombing of British ships in Spanish waters?
