HC Deb 01 June 1938 vol 336 c2040
50. Major Macnamara

asked the Minister for the Co-ordination of Defence whether the towns of Chelmsford and Brentwood are efficiently protected against air attack by modern guns, searchlights and balloon barrage?

Sir T. Inskip

I can assure my hon. Friend that steps are taken and appropriate dispositions are made according to the circumstances of each case. It would not be in the public interest to disclose the character or extent of preparations for the defence of particular localities.
