HC Deb 27 July 1938 vol 338 cc3092-3
33. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can make a statement respecting an approximate date when a report may be expected from the Commission now investigating the West African cocoa industry; and whether there is likely to be an interim report?

Mr. M. MacDonald

The Commission hope to be able to present their report to me during August. A certain amount of time will be required for printing and for transmission to West Africa, so that the report may be published there and in London simultaneously. It is hoped that publication will take place early in September. There will be no interim report.

Mr. Sorensen

May we receive an assurance from the right hon. Gentleman that the contents of this report will be available to Members during the Recess?

Mr. MacDonald

Yes, Sir.
