Lords Amendment: In page 19, line 23, at the end, insert: (2) Before making any order prescribing scales of payments for fire services or any order requiring uniformity of appliances and equipment and fire hydrants, the Secretary of State shall consult the Central Advisory Council for Fire Services, and before making any order prescribing standards of efficiency for fire services, the Secretary of State shall consult with the said Council and with such associations representing fire authorities as appear to him to be concerned and with any tire authorities with whom consultation appears to him to be desirable.

I beg to move, "That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment."

The only change of substance is in the concluding words, which provide that before any order is made for prescribing standards of efficiency, there shall be consultation with any individual fire authorities with whom consultation appears to the Secretary of State to be desirable.
