HC Deb 26 July 1938 vol 338 cc2914-5

Leave given to the Select Committee to make a Special Report.

Special Report brought up and read as followeth:

Your Committee find themselves unable to complete their inquiry before the Summer Adjournment. They are of opinion that it is advisable to report upon the statement of the hon. Member for Norwood and the action of the Ministers concerned, and upon the matter referred to their consideration by the Instruction of the House of the 19th day of July before proceeding to consider the general question of the applicability of the Official Secrets Acts to Members of the House in the discharge of their Parliamentary duties. They therefore request that the House will be pleased to give their leave to sit notwithstanding the Adjournment of the House, and to report their observations upon the matters referred to their consideration and the Minutes of the Evidence taken before them from time to time. Your Committee think that they will be in a position to make a report upon the former questions within a short time.

Report to lie upon the Table.
