HC Deb 26 July 1938 vol 338 cc2877-8
7. Mr. Hepworth

asked the Secretary for Mines whether he is aware that the Denby Grange Collieries, Limited, Yorkshire, have notified one of their employes of their intention to deduct one-sixth of his holiday payment on account of his being absent from work for two days

Miss Ward

Is my hon. and gallant Friend considering the report of the Home Office on this matter of nystagmus?

Captain Crookshank

Yes, Sir. It is the practice of all Government Departments to consider the reports of other Government Departments.

Miss Ward

May we have an early answer?

Following is the table:

during the four weeks ended 25th June, and that the employé was gassed twice during the Great War; and, if so, will he take the matter up with this and other companies to avoid such deductions from ex-service men who were wounded in the War?

Captain Crookshank

Holidays with pay at the colliery referred to result from an agreement between the West Yorkshire Coal Owners' Association and the Yorkshire Mineworkers' Association. The agreement provides machinery for dealing with disputes as to its application.
